Introduction: Gidget (Marquise Diamond) is a compact and well put together, 8yo Warmblood mare with correct and pretty movement with the breeding and talent to excel. By the stallion, Regardez Moi out of a thoroughbred mare, Gidget is a quality, athletic type with solid dressage education (competing Novice, training Elementary) and a quick ability to grasp her work.
Gidget is a forward moving mare and would suit a confident rider who likes a horse to move lightly (no pushing required!) and get down to business. She would appeal to a capable young rider or adult amateur wanting a fun, competitive horse to continue developing for the dressage or show ring.
Education: Started by Romy Sanna in Sydney, then progressed with Ailish Hill on Sunshine Coast, Gidget has also started working with a liberty / movement trainer to continue her training and correct usage of her body.
Outside the arena, Gidget is brave and loves a bush trail ride, has been to the beach, and is comfortable around busy roads, farm machinery, dogs etc.
General demeanour under saddle: As mentioned, Gidget is a forward thinking/moving horse. A brave horse, she is not a spooky and gets her confidence through her rider. Her rider needs to be kind and patient and able to bring her back into herself with clear, confident and quality leadership if she gets ahead of herself.
Gidget likes to connect to her person and thrives on a one-on-one partnership. She has had many of my daughters friends, my friends and trainer’s rider her with no worries, but she is most happy when she knows and is connected to her rider.
Current workload / fitness: Gidget is in light work, my daughter rides her about 2/3 times a week and is not competing at present. We have had her out and about recently on trails/training etc, so she is ready to travel/work.
Handling: On the ground, Gidget is easy and straightforward, but as a mare, needs to respect her handler as the leader. She is simple to catch, lead, loads easily (my daughter does the loading) and travels well, stands quietly when travelling, is good to wash and for the vet, and is reliable for the farrier.
Notes: I have had to do some work with her tying up/standing as she has pulled back on occasion when left alone. Gidget also bonds to other horses and has been buddy sour if her bonded horse is around (at competition) but when taken out/away solo she is perfectly fine.
Feeding and management: Gidget is a great doer. She is currently maintained on hay with a simple hard feed. In a paddock, she is usually the lead mare and has been paddocked with other mares and geldings no worries.
Medical history: Gidget does not have any itch and is fully vaccinated for Hendra and Tetanus/Strangles. Her teeth have also recently been done, so she is ready to go. She has no vices (windsucking etc) Vet checks are welcome at buyer's expense or I can put you in touch with my vet for her records.
Rider Suitability: Gidget is best suited to a capable, confident rider — a switched-on young rider or adult amateur who enjoys a forward moving, smart, sensitive and talented mare.
Reason for sale: My 15-year-old daughters' interest in riding has waned and so it is time to pass this gorgeous mare onto another rider who will enjoy her talents/rideability and give her the work and attention/love she thrives on.
Sorry – I will not sell this horse sight unseen.
