So Royal Decree is a quiet 13-year-old brown Anglo Arabian gelding. We have owned him for the last 3 years and he has been used for lessons with novice riders and trail rides of all nature. He is good to pull out of the paddock after a few weeks or even months off.
He is a lazy, kick-around type of guy that loves a brush. He is good for the farrier every time, has never been fed any additional feed other than grazing, he is kept in a 20-acre paddock with 6 other horses and is always good to catch.
Since owning him, I have only floated him once and he was no trouble at all. He is good on roads, in an arena and in an open paddock. He can be ridden bareback in a halter. The only problem I have ever had is getting him going.
He much prefers living in a herd-like environment and a fairly relaxed life. Selling due to a predicted drought and he is just sitting in the paddock and only being ridden once a month.
He has been in light work (2 x 30-minute rides a week) for the last 6 weeks to assure he is sound and ready for a new rider.
