Chester is a 14-year-old Welsh Pony gelding standing approximately 12HH. He has been a trusted member of our riding school program for many years and is a lovely little all-rounder who has been enjoyed by a range of young riders.
Over the past two years, Chester has been ridden by a two-year-old on the lead line, a beginner seven-year-old, an intermediate 10-year-old and, more recently, a small 15-year-old rider who has been his sole handler and rider for the past seven months. Chester has been predominantly handled, caught, groomed, saddled and cared for by children and is accustomed to young riders being involved in his everyday care.
Having lived on a busy rural property, he is also used to farm machinery, tractors, vehicles, dogs, other horses and the general day-to-day activity that comes with farm and riding school life. Chester has experience as a riding school pony and has attended Pony Club, gymkhanas and horse sporting. He has done some dressage, jumped up to 75cm at home and has plenty of trail-riding experience. He is an excellent trail pony and is happy to head out either alone or in company.
Chester is kind and genuine with no nasty habits. He enjoys having a job to do and is a pleasure to have around. He is easy to catch, particularly if treats are involved, and is good to trim, rug and handle. He is generally good for the farrier and dentist, although he can occasionally be a little challenging for the farrier if no one is holding him. He floats well but does prefer to travel with company.
Chester recently lost vision in one eye following a paddock accident. He has been thoroughly assessed by our veterinarian and has adapted exceptionally well. He has returned to his normal ridden work and has adapted exceptionally well, and his veterinarian is happy to discuss his condition with genuine prospective buyers.
Chester would suit a Pony Club home, a family looking for a genuine all-round pony, a beginner on the lead or under appropriate supervision, or a confident young rider wanting a pony to enjoy across a range of activities.
Our riding school is moving in a different direction, and Chester is simply too good a pony to spend his days sitting in the paddock. We would love to see him find a home where he can continue to have a job and be loved and enjoyed.
