Meet Chilli – 15.3hh OTTB Dark Bay 4-Year-Old Mare
Chilli has the temperament of a much older horse and has proven herself to be safe around both kids and other animals. She is an absolute dream to float/load, clip, wash, rug, catch (she’ll meet you at the gate), tack up and tie. She is also fantastic for both the vet and farrier.
One of Chilli’s best qualities is her kind, laid-back nature. If she’s had time off, you can simply bring her in from the paddock, tack her up and hop straight on with no fuss at all.
Again, Chilli’s temperament is truly something special. She has no vices whatsoever and has never shown any nasty behaviour. No buck, rear, bolt or bite.
Chilli is 100% sound with no injuries. She retired from racing completely sound, simply because she wasn’t fast enough. She is fully vaccinated and up to date with her teeth, worming and farrier. She also holds her weight exceptionally well, so she doesn’t require any special feed or dietary requirements, which is a huge bonus.
Chilli has just completed two weeks of training with a professional dressage trainer, where she settled into a new environment with ease. She has shown herself to be a very willing mare who genuinely enjoys learning and has taken beautifully to her new education.
She has also been on a small trail ride, where she took everything in her stride and was very well behaved. Chilli has shown herself to be a sensible, level-headed mare who enjoys getting out and experiencing new things.
She has also been introduced to small jumps and has shown that she really enjoys it. She is still green in this area and will benefit from further education and experience over fences.
It’s not often you come across a four-year-old OTTB with a temperament like Chilli’s. She is kind, sensible and incredibly level-headed, making her suitable for a novice rider while still having all the potential to excel with someone wanting to take her further. I truly believe that, with the right owner, Chilli has a very bright future ahead of her and all the qualities to make a fantastic all-rounder, eventer or pleasure horse.
