Will is an 12-year-old Clydie x Stock Horse gelding standing at 15.2hh. I have had the pleasure of owning him since he was 5 years old, so know him well. Will is a very bright and cheeky soul, who would live on your lounge if he could and come to lunches with the girls. He is quirky and extremely smart.
Over the years I've owned Will he has had many outings and brought home 1st, 2nds, and 3rd places. Schooling elementary movements at home and has competed up to Novice with scores between 60 and 70%. Will has done abit of everything including training days, dressage competitions, beach,swimming,trail rides, horsemanship clinics, obstacle courses and even had a go at working equitation and jumping.
Will has loads of personality!
He genuinely enjoys being in work, having a job to do and loves the consistency and leadership of his rider. He is the type of horse that forms a strong bond with his person. Like many intelligent horses, he will occasionally test his rider, so he needs someone who is confident and prepared to quietly remind him to maintain focus and get on with the job.
Ive made the decision to part with him because life has got in the way and I can't give him the cosistency he needs, and being an older nervous rider I don't have the confidence to bring out the best in him in once a fortnight rides. When ridden consistently (more than once a fortnight), he is rock solid, willing, and an awesome ride. He is very quiet and gentle to do everything with.
His ideal partner is someone who is a capable rider, has the confidence I lack, and who is calm but has a no-nonsense approach (legs on and can remind him he has a job to do).
When I bought Will, he was jumping around 90 cm, so there is certainly scope for someone to revisit that discipline. Our focus has been dressage, competing at Prep, Preliminary and Novice levels. He is an athletic horse with plenty of versatility. He is a very good doer, has a solid build, but not too heavy and is easy to keep.
He mostly has good ground manners and has had extensive groundwork with me.
This is an incredibly difficult decision however he needs more than I can give. A quick sale is not my goal, finding the perfect partnership is far more important as he means a lot to me and I want him to go to the perfect forever home.
Oh! and he has the most amazing tail!
