Experienced Show Horse / Novice Dressage training elementary. I bought him as a schoolmaster however he gets anxious at shows & competitions (not disclosed to me when I bought him). He is hard to keep in a canter, dropping back to a trot and becoming tense, no dirt but he throws his head up and becomes stiff & hollow throughout his body and takes a couple of circles to soften. He is easy and straight forward to handle. Catch, shoe, float, etc. Paddock alone or in a herd. He isn't phased leaving his paddock mates.
My work roster means I’m not able to ride regularly, some fortnight’s I only get to ride 2x and I think he needs to be in consistent work to move through this. So I have made the hard decisions to look to sell him to someone who is looking to learn dressage but maybe not go out and compete. Or not yet ready to compete but would like to in the future depending how he comes along.
When I was having regular lessons he started to work well and consistently. He has a beautiful canter when collected and supple.
He can walk to canter, flying change etc, lateral movements, but at comps becomes tense and rushes and will drop out of the canter into a hollow big trot and takes a couple of circles to relax and supple.
I believe with regular consistent work, either with a more experienced rider or with regular lessons he may come good at comps. He works well at home, clinics and at lessons.
He is up to date with dental, vaccinations, Hendra vaccinated, and has regular body work.
Can sell his saddle which I’ve had fitted to him. He is welcome to retire here when the time comes.
